The Friends of the Mother Bailey House invite you to celebrate the birthday of Anna Warner “Mother” Bailey on Thursday, October 10 from 4-6 at the Groton Public Library. Born on that date in 1758, Anna became well known during her lifetime for two wartime deeds which demonstrated her bravery and patriotism. She was visited by President James Monroe, President Andrew Jackson, President Martin Van Buren, and the Marquis de Lafayette. As her fame increased, visitors flocked to the house to hear the lively tales told from her own lips.
As she was known for giving cookies to the neighborhood children, a variety of cookies will be served at this celebration. There will also be old fashioned games and activities for children. This event is free and open to the public.
